How We Worship
We worship the Lord our God in spirit and in truth.
John 4:23 – 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
We strive to follow God’s guidance on scriptural worship. We ground our worship services in the teachings of God’s inspired word (the Bible) and strive to be found acceptable in the sight of God in spirit (with the proper attitude) and in truth (with proper actions). We welcome all to join our worship!
We Praise Him with Psalms, Hymns & Spiritual Songs
Ephesians 5:19 – 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Singing has always been an important part of scriptural worship. We lift up our voices in song to praise God (Hebrews 13:15) and to encourage one another (Hebrews 10:24).
We Come to the Throne of Grace Through Prayer
Hebrews 4:16 – 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
We praise God (Matthew 6:9), thank God (James 1:17), confess our sins to God (1 John 1:9) and ask God to be with those who need his special care (1 Timothy 2:1-2) through prayer. Philippians 4:6 says “6Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God…”
We Observe the Lord’s Supper on the First Day of the Week
Matthew 26:26-28 – 26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” 27 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
We are commanded to partake in the Lord’s Supper in remembrance of Jesus (Luke 22:19). By partaking of the Lord’s Supper every first day of the week (Acts 20:7) we proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes again (1 Corinthians 11:26-28).
We Give Back as We’ve Been Given
1 Corinthians 16:2 – 2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
We take up a collection amongst the members of body that assembles in Knoxville. We use these funds to continue the spiritual growth of our church, the work of the Church in our community, and support the needs of our Church family.
We Devote Time to Examining the Scriptures
Acts 17:11 – 11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
We present a lesson in our worship services. We devote time to better understanding God’s word. Our messages are meant to help our body better understand God’s word and will.
